Hayabusa Flex Fight Shorts Preview

Hayabusa Flex Fight Shorts PreviewTake a look at the sneak preview of the soon to be released Hayabusa Flex Fight Shorts.

These shorts are nothing like anything that Hayabusa have released before and have a number of stand out features that set them apart from the rest.

In particular these new shorts will feature an elastic waistband that has an inner drawstring, meaning no bulky velcro straps and enclosure systems to contend with. For many this will mean increased comfort and less hassle.

The larger ‘X-shaped’ stretch panel in the crotch area of the shorts, combined with the super stretch fabric used to construct the rest of the shorts will mean increased flexibillity and manoeuvrability.

These shorts will be available in two styles (pictured above).

The release date for these shorts is still yet to be confirmed, so keep in touch with the latest Hayabusa news via this blog page, our Facebook page or by signing up for our newsletter via the link below.

Shawn Tompkins

Shawn Tompkins

It is with a heavy heart that we, at Hayabusa, say goodbye to Shawn Tompkins. We feel blessed to have worked with him as one of the preeminent striking coaches in the sport of mixed martial arts, but as a man he was much more; mentor, husband and father (to all the athletes he trained). We were proud to have had the chance to work with Shawn, but more importantly, to have been able to call him our friend.

Everyone at Hayabusa will cherish their memories of Shawn. Our thoughts are with his family and friends in this time of sorrow. Though he is gone, he lives on in the hearts and souls of those who knew and loved him.

Shawn, you will always be part of Team Hayabusa.

The Shawn Tompkins Memorial Fund has been established and those wishing to contribute may contact [email protected] A memorial service will be held in Las Vegas in the coming weeks; details will be announced at www.amrgroup.tv

About Shawn Tompkins

Shawn Tompkins was born and raised in Tilsonburg, Ontario, Canada. At age six, he began studying Shotokan Karate and a decade later, he was a two-time Canadian National Karate Champion. He went on to become a third-degree black belt and had the rare honor of having his black belt certificate signed by the Prince of Japan.

Fascinated by the art of business, Mr. Tompkins opened his first training facility in Ontario, Canada, when he was only 18 years old. He went on to become the assistant coach to his trainer and mentor Bas Rutten for the International Fight League’s Los Angeles Anacondas. Mr. Tompkins was considered by many as one of the top MMA trainers available and is known in MMA circles as the architect of the first MMA Specific Striking Program. His countless accomplishments made him one of the most sought-after MMA striking coaches in the world.

He was inducted into the 2009 Masters Hall of Fame with the Pioneer Award, the same year he was selected as one of Las Vegas` Most Successful Men by Esquire Magazine.

After relocating to Las Vegas, Mr. Tompkins was the head instructor and trainer at Xtreme Couture, where his most notable client was UFC legend Randy Couture. He went on to become head coach at the TapouT Research and Development Training Center in 2009. Over the years, Mr. Tompkins trained the likes of Ray Sefo, Vitor Belfort, Kimbo Slice, Wanderlei Silva, Jay
Hieron, Dan Henderson, Mark Coleman, Sam Stout, Chris Horodecki, Mark Hominick, Rob McCullough, Johny Hendricks, Krzysztof Soszynski, Jeff Curran, Phil Baroni, Jason `Mayhem` Miller, Gray Maynard, Forrest Griffin, Goran Reljic, Martin Kampmann, Alex Schoenauer, Bas Rutten, Karo Parisyan, Evan Dunham, Benji Radach, Tyson Griffin, Ryo Chonan, Junie
Browning, John Alessio, Mike Pyle, Mac Danzig, Erin Toughill, Jan Nortje, Ferrid Kheder and Germaine de Randamie.

UFC 133 Hayabusa Sponsored Fighters

UFC 133 Hayabusa Sponsored FightersYoshihiro Akiyama is about to redefine himself. Coming off back to back losses, Akiyama is ready to show people how he has changed and evolved. Yoshihiro understands that he has to adapt and change his style to match that of his opponents. Akiyama, knowing that he was too stuck in his old ways, has started working with Tsuyoshi Kohsaka and Yushin Okami to help him better develop his overall game. These two UFC vets have started to show him how to be a “UFC style” fighter and Akiyama says he will show his true strengths in the future. This Judo stand out will be up against some of the fastest hands in the business. Vitor Belfort is as explosive as they come, but Akiyama will be ready for anything. Akiyama is known for an amazing ground game, but also has great knock out power. Belfort has shown some weaknesses in his game that Akiyama looks to expose when they meet at UFC 133. “Sexyama” will live up to his nickname as he makes his entrance wearing the Hayabusa Pro Jiu Jitsu Gi. Akiyama will be able to implement his new fighting skills with confidence knowing that the Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts he is wearing will hold up to anything. Hayabusa is proud to be sponsoring Yoshihiro Akiyama and we look forward to an amazing fight.

Rory MacDonald
is considered by many to be the future of MMA. The future is here. Rory MacDonald proved to the world that he is a dominant force at 170 lbs. His loss to Carlos Condit, the only loss of his career, was a late third round stoppage that taught him a lot about himself and about the world of fighting. Rory rebounded from this loss with one of the most amazing performances of his career. His three round destruction of Nate Diaz was filled with cries of excitement as he repeatedly suplexed Diaz to the canvas and proceeded to put on a clinic. Rory, the third youngest fighter on the UFC roster, celebrated his 22 birthday just 2 weeks before the fight and a dominant win over Mike Pyle would be the “icing on the cake”. Rory MacDonald has unlimited potential and looks to take the next step in what many consider a most promising career. Rory will be one of the best dressed fighters at UFC 133 as he will be covered head to toe in Hayabusa. This new breed of warrior, trained exclusively in MMA, will be wearing the #1 Trusted Brand In MMA. The Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts are designed with the complete fighter in mind. Rory will be able to kick, punch and grapple with ease. Rory Macdonald is proud to be a Hayabusa fighter.

Nam Phan is looking for redemption. His last fight was a controversial split decision loss to Leonard Garcia. The loss was a tough one, as much of the MMA community felt he won a unanimous decision. This loss embodies the phrase, “Never leave it in the hands ofthe judges!” Nam will have his hands full as he takes on former WEC Featherweight champion Mike Brown. This fight has the potential to amaze, as both fighters are strong, well rounded and durable. Phan will be fighting in the Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts and will be prepared for anything. Hayabusa #1 Trusted Brand in MMA is proud to sponsor this up and coming featherweight warrior.

With well over 100 fights between them, neither Brian Ebersole nor Dennis Hallman can claim the experience advantage. These two fighters will engage in a welterweight showdown at UFC 133. Ebersole, a US native training out of Australia, is coming off a career defining win. His three round unanimous decision win over Chris Lytle was a great, hard fought victory. Ebersole, a powerful wrestler, has less fights than his opponent, but with over 50 fights to each fighter’s credit, neither can claim that advantage. Ebersole brings a more unorthodox style to the cage and he will have to keep his opponent, a submission wiz, on his toes the whole time. Tough, resilient and always ready to fight, Ebersole is the true definition of a mixed martial artist. This elite warrior is ready to take the next step in his career and will be fighting in the Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts. Hayabusa is proud to sponsor Brian Ebersole in his upcoming fight at UFC 133. Hayabusa #1 Trusted Brand in MMA.

Hayabusa wishes nothing but the best for bantamweight fighters Ivan Menjivar and Nick Pace as they go to war against each other. Both these Hayabua sponsored fighters will show what the lighter weight classes bring; speed, skill, technique and heart. Hayabusa is proud to sponsor these bantamweight warriors as they clash at UFC 133. Hayabusa #1 Trusted Brand in MMA.

UFC 131 – Vancouver

UFC 131 - Vancouver

Sam Stout will have the hometown advantage as he enters the Octagon in Vancouver. This Canadian lightweight has some of the most technical striking skills in the UFC. Stout has never had a boring fight and many of his battles, especially the ones with Spencer Fisher, are fan favourites. Devastatingly quick, incredibly durable and ultra-talented, “Hands of Stone” will be put to the test when he faces one of the toughest challenges of his young career.

Yves Edwards is one of the pioneers of the lightweight division. This “thugjitsu” master is a true veteran of the sport. Yves takes a three fight win streak into the octagon and is looking to put a stop to the Canadian warrior.

The young lion and the crafty veteran will put on a fight that is sure to excite all fans. Their styles are different, their countries are different, their attitudes are different, but one thing will be the same; they will be fighting each other in style. Both athletes will be wearing the Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts. These shorts allow each warrior to bring their best to a fight, which has the potential to become a classic.

Vagner Rocha has the opportunity of a lifetime. As a late replacement for the injured Mac Danzig, Vagner is set to make his UFC debut. He is going to have his hands full against former WEC title challenger Donald Cerrone. Look for Rocha to use his powerful ground game against “Cowboy”. It will not matter if Rocha is on his back or in the mount, he will be able to fight with confidence, knowing his Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts will stand up to anything.

A perfect 5-0 record is on the line as Chris Weidman enters the Octagon for the second time. “The All American” travels to Canada to take on Jesse Bongfeldt. Chris, a wrestling stand out, has been touted as one of the top middleweight prospects to hit the sport in years. This looks to be a classic grappler vs. striker match up. Weidman, under the tutelage of Matt Serra and Ray Longo, might have something else in store for Bongfeldt. No matter where the fight takes place, Chris Weidman will be able to control the pace of the fight wearing the Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts.

UFC newcomer Jason Young is ready to make an immediate impact in the featherweight division. This British fighter is ready to take on Dustin Poirier. With three submission losses, “Shotgun” will have to be extra careful against Poirier, an accomplished grappler. Young will have to be ready to be strong, fast and accurate. “Shotgun” stated that one of his favourite striking techniques is “Catching a flush head kick”. This technique will be a lot easier as he will be wearing the Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts. The Pro Performance stretch panel and split side seams allow for unrestricted range of motion.

Jon Olav Einemo is a grappling wiz. He has been out of the fight game since 2006, but is ready to return to action. Five of his wins have come by submission, including four arm bars, and he will need to bring his best game as he faces off against Dave Herman. Herman is a big, heavy handed, warrior with 14 (T)KO’s in his career. Einemo will look to drag “Pee Wee” to the ground and submit him early. This heavyweight bout features two big fighters making their UFC debuts. The difference is that Einemo will make his wearing the Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts. These shorts are perfectly engineered to allow Einemo to grapple with confidence.

Mike Massenzio makes his return to the UFC, but will do it in the light heavyweight division. He steps in the Octagon covered head to toe in Hayabusa. He will look great making his entrance, but it is inside the cage that he needs to prove himself. Massenzio, wearing the Hayabusa Pro Competition Shiai Fight Shorts, will look to make a major impact in the 205 lb. division. This wrestling stand out has faced controversy in the past, in a loss to Dollaway, but will look to make a statement at UFC 131. His competition is stiff, in the form of Krzysztof Soszynski, but he is ready for the challenge. Watch this dynamic fighter go to war wearing Hayabusa – #1 Trusted Brand in MMA.
