Hayabusa Product Name Translations

Hayabusa Product Name Translations

Judging by our name and the names of the majority of our ranges, you’ve probably guessed for yourself that Hayabusa is influenced by Japanese culture!

We hope this doesn’t ruin the ‘mystic’ for those not in the know already, but thought that we’d give a few brief descriptions on the translations of the names for some of our most popular ranges. Check them out below!

Mizuchi – Translates as the Japanese equivalent name for several varieties of a mythological dragon like creature found in ancient Chinese literature. The name Mizuchi has also been used to describe a legendary serpent like creature in Japanese literature.

Ikusa – Quite simply, the word “Ikusa” translates to English as meaning “war or battle”.

Tokushu – Tokushu can be translated to mean “special” or “unique”.

Kanpeki – Kanpeki can be translated to mean “perfect” or “perfection”

Chikara – “Chikara!” can be a battle cry to rally the troops, or summon your strength for conflict! It is also the word that represents. “power, strength and capability”.

History lesson over! As you can see, the names that we have chosen and been influenced by are perfectly suited to our products and to MMA!

Jason is one of the most talked about fighters in MMA today. Miller, known for flashy entrances and various hijinks, should never be taken lightly in competition. “Mayhem” lives up to his moniker with a devastating combination of striking and grappling. Miller used his lifetime of experience to fine tune the skills of some of the future stars in the UFC’s two newest weight classes; bantamweight and featherweight. UFC 154 GSP vs Condit Review

Georges St Pierre

Humble even in victory

“I gave it everything I had. I was fighting the number one guy”.
Georges St. Pierre, post UFC 154 fight interview.

Many questions were answered on the night

Following his win against Carlos Condit last night, it’s safe to say the Georges St. Pierre managed to answer the many questions surrounding his return to the octagon in impressive fashion.

More than ever, Hayabusa are proud to sponsor GSP, as he proved that it will take more than a career threatening injury to knock him off his stride!

It could have been all over in the 3rd

After what was possibly one of his toughest ever title defences, “Rush” overcame Condit’s all action striking game and survived a dangerous left kick that cracked him cleanly on the side of head in the third round. Although visibly shaken by the “Natural Born Killer’s” kick, stumbling back GSP was able soak up the swarm of blows that followed and get back to his feet, leaving Condit unable to capitalise on the opportunity.

An mma masterclass combined with desire and resilience

Fighting at an intensely high tempo, with his reflexes as sharp as ever, GSP aggressively pushed forward and applied constant pressure, however it wasn’t only his attacking performance that was worthy of high praise. When he got hurt, and he did get hurt, St. Pierre rarely faltered and showed the desire, mental and physical toughness to always come back on the offensive and keep Condit at bay.

A worthy opponent, simply outfought

The final score card may portray a slightly one sided picture of the fight, however this should not take away from Condit’s performance and the test that he put the reigning champ through. It’s an over used cliche to say how the loser of such a well contested fight showed great heart and fought with valour, but after a surviving a devastating cut from a GSP right elbow that sliced open his forehead, Condit continued to apply an aggressive striking game when other fighters would have been left more than reeling.

Overall though St. Pierre, was simply too good, fighting an almost perfect fight, he continually had all the answers to Condit’s questions and showed the intense hunger and will to win that has helped to propel him to the stratosphere of one of all time greats.

Silva next then?

Despite the rumours fuelling a potential superfight with Anderson Silva, the future for GSP in terms of his next fight is still not set in stone, one thing is for certain though… the champ is back!!

A Hayabusa clean sweep!

At Hayabusa UK & Europe, we’d also like to congratulate fellow Hayabusa Sponsored Fighters; Francis Carmont, Patrick Cote (we’ll take this despite the circumstances!), Ivan Menjivar, John Makdessi and Antonio Carvalho who came away with victories on the night.

What’s so special about MMA Shorts?

What are MMA Shorts?

Most sports  require clothing and equipment that is tailored specifically to it’s own needs and nuances, and MMA is certainly no different. Although it may appear on first glance that MMA fighters do not require a great deal of equipment and clothing, you may be surprised at the level of detail and features that specifically designed MMA shorts will boast.

MMA shorts are designed with two main goals in mind, to be able to endure intense wear and tear and to be as unrestricting and as comfortable to wear as possible.

Check out the list below for the type of features that you could expect to find  on most MMA shorts.

Stretch Panels

Often made from a stretchy spandex like material, you will find the stretch panel on the inside leg and crotch area of your MMA shorts. As with the split seam, this feature helps to ensure that the fabric of the shorts moves as freely as possible with the fighters movements without ripping and tearing, especially when kicking and stretching.

Split Seams

Split seams on MMA Shorts are visible at the bottom of the outside leg of the shorts. Although the length of the split varies, typically the seam is cut or ‘split’ up to around 12cm from the bottom of the leg of the shorts. The split seam feature is there to give the wearer an increased range of motion during use and can also reduce any chances of the shorts tearing  when kicking or stretching at awkward angles.

Dual Velcro Fastening

Usually comprising of a vertical Velcro fastening strip down the front of the shorts and a horizontal Velcro strip across the waist band of the shorts. This type of enclosure system ensures that the shorts are securely fastened once on, something that we are you will agree is pretty important given the intense full contact nature of MMA. The majority of MMA shorts also feature a standard drawstring to give the wearer the added extra of tightening their shorts even further.

Lightweight and Quick Drying Material

MMA Shorts are typically light in weight, yet durable in construction in terms of the stitching and material utilised. Often made from a polyester / cotton composite material, MMA shorts are designed to be quick drying and quickly wick away moisture. All very important considering the intense physical nature of the sport, where you and your shorts are likely to come in to contact with blood and sweat more regularly than most other sports!

Rubberised Waistbands

Not something that you will find on all types of MMA shorts, but more often than not at the higher end of the market will be a rubberised inner waistband. Designed with the aim of providing extra grip around the waist to reduce shift and movement of the shorts when worn and in use.

And that’s the end of our brief introduction to MMA shorts. It’s possible to go in to much greater detail, but the best thing to do is buy a pair and try them out and see what type suits you!
